Public Forum

Within the framework of the EU-iPodS project, two events were organized:

1. The public forum

The public forum took place in BrusselsĀ on 2 July 2012. The event was open to the wider public, including representatives of civil society, members of think thanks, policy-makers, students, specialists from the field as well as laypersons. The main aim was to engage in a dialogue with the wider public and disseminating the academic findings from the academic meetings.

2. The expert meeting

The expert meeting of the EU-iPodS activity took place in Brussels in on 2 July 2012. It involved a critical reflection on what kind of democracy the EU promotes externally. This closed event aimed at an in-depth exchange among 16 experts from diverse backgrounds: EU institutions, civil society, international democracy promoters and target country representatives. The objectives of the event were triple (1) to disseminate the academic findings from event 1 and 2 to an expert public, (2) to critically reflect on the objectives of EU democracy promotion from different actor perspectives, and (3) to obtain feedback on the research results from people working 'on the ground'.
