Within the framework of the EU-iPodS project, two academic meetings were organised:

1. The Substance of EU Democracy Promotion: Comparing Country Cases

Based on a common conceptual framework on the substance of EU democracy promotion, the EU's policies towards different regions and countries were compared systematically. The academic meeting brought together researchers from various disciplinary backgrounds and with expertise on diverse regions. Following this academic meeting, we aim to publish an edited volume on this topic with an international publisher.

2. Comparative perspectives on the substance of EU Democracy Promotion

This academic meeting examined whether and how the kind of democracy promoted by the EU differs from that advocated by other international actors. Thus, this event served to compare the EU's view on democracy promotion with that of other actors, including the United States, the World Bank, the United Nations, and EU Member States, such as France, Sweden, the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, the Central and Eastern European Member States. Following this academic meeting, we aim to publish a special issue on this topic with an international journal.
